Crystal Rig Wind Farm

Crystal Rig

Fred. Olsen Renewables flagship onshore renewable energy project is Crystal Rig, located approximately 11km south of Dunbar in East Lothian and 16.5km north-west of Duns, within the Scottish Borders.
Project Overview

Crystal Rig Wind Farm first commenced operation in 2003 and consisted of 25 turbines. By 2025 it will have 102 turbines and will generate over 260 MW of clean, green, electricity – capable of powering 200,000 homes.

Our vision for Crystal Rig is to bring forward a well thought out renewable energy park that helps to support a sustainable and thriving economy and community.

We want every element of Crystal Rig to be working together to deliver a consistent supply of renewable electricity, bringing together existing and emerging complementary technologies to maximise the renewables resources available.

The future of Crystal Rig

Crystal Rig is a unique complex of four separate wind farm developments, with the oldest ready to be decommissioned in 2028.

We want to maximise the opportunities to deliver more clean, green energy at Crystal Rig. These are:
