We are excited about the future and the possibilities that Crystal Rig Wind Farm presents.
That is why we are exploring the potential to increase the amount of green energy produced on site by housing solar panels on the land that is currently being used for the wind farm. This will allow us to ensure that Crystal Rig:
- Maximises its potential
- Is efficient
- Secures a more consistent energy supply
Key Facts

We are at the very early stages of our proposals. We are working to gather feedback that will, alongside the results of our technical assessments, inform the final design of Crystal Rig Solar Farm.
The responses that we receive will help us to develop a more detailed design which we will then discuss with the community and key stakeholders, prior to applying for consent.

Timeline
We have undertaken many surveys on site, and some are still ongoing. These will inform the final layout of the solar array, ensuring that the project minimises effects on the local environment. We then evaluate and present the effects of the project in the Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIA-R). The EIA-R will accompany our application and the results from this will be presented at public exhibitions later this year.
