- Fred. Olsen Renewables exploring the potential to repower earliest phase of Crystal Rig I
- Two public events scheduled for March in Innerwick and Longformacus
- Residents encouraged to drop in, view proposals and meet the team
Leading independent renewable energy developer, Fred. Olsen Renewables is encouraging residents to attend two drop-in events being held in March and learn more about how the company is exploring the potential to repower the earliest phase of Crystal Rig Wind Farm – involving the removal of 25 existing turbines and replacing them with ten taller turbines.
Crystal Rig is a unique complex of four separate wind farm developments located approximately 11km south of Dunbar in East Lothian and 16.5km north-west of Duns, in the Scottish Borders. The oldest phase, Crystal Rig I, has been operational for over 20 years and Fred. Olsen Renewables is exploring the opportunity to repower and utilise better, more modern, technology at the site.
Residents are encouraged to attend the forthcoming events, where they will have the opportunity to meet with members of the Fred. Olsen Renewables project team, examine the visual representations of the project and provide their valuable feedback.
The events are scheduled to take place:
Monday 3rd March
4pm – 8pm
Longformacus Village Hall, Duns
Road, Longformacus, TD11 3PB
Tuesday 4th March
3pm – 7pm
Innerwick Village Hall, Main
Street, Innerwick, EH42 1SE
Julie Aitken, Senior Project Manager at Fred. Olsen Renewables commented:
“Repowering Crystal Rig is an exciting development and helps to demonstrate just how far wind farm technology has progressed.
“I would like to encourage residents to attend our events, learn how our plans have evolved and have their say. We will be on hand to answer any questions, and I hope that everyone with an interest in the plans will come down and meet the team.”
Anyone unable to attend is encouraged to visit the project website to view the materials and find out more. www.crystalrigwindfarm.co.uk
